After 5 hours on a rugged rough road with 5
women in our borrowed 4x4 we arrived at Nyika plateau, an expansive and remote
national park in the North of Malawi. Driving through the magnificent landscape
of the plateau to the only camp was magnificent passing through herds of zebra
and roan antelope. The remoteness and expansiveness of nature here gives a
sense of human insignificance.
Highlights of the stay included crossing
the border to Zambia where we eventually had to turn around due to road
conditions, mountain biking through the park between the zebras, swimming in
the lake early in the morning, and the fireplaces that were lit in our chalet
rooms every evening.
The landscape here is unlike any other in
Malawi, montane and deserted and much cooler due to the high altitude.
For the rest I think my pictures will speak
more than words…
